THE UK LEGENDS perform the hit songs of the bands and musicians that they have worked with over their musical careers, which includes The Animals, Smokie, Joe Cocker, Status Quo, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, and many more.
The concept of THE UK LEGENDS show is that rather than only performing the songs of one band, the wide repertoire of hit songs from the legendary UK bands of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s guarantees that this is a very entertaining show and satisfies a very wide selection of musical tastes, age ranges and gender.
With each of the band members holding the credibility of having worked with so many famous bands and musicians, The UK Legends can rightfully perform a wide variety of hit songs in their show.
Each of the three separate front men in the band portray their separate vocal skills; Bernie with his unmistakably ‘Smokie’ voice, Martin with his classic R&B power, and Steve providing the smooth voice of rock, all coupled with close four part harmonies and great musicianship, adding unprecedented authenticity to the songs.
The UK Legends are a professional band that regularly headline at concerts with audiences of up to 50,000 people per show and have performed live on TV shows that have been simultaneously broadcast to over 100 countries worldwide.
THE UK LEGENDS can comfortably adapt to perform at festivals big and small, indoor venues, music clubs, private parties and corporate events.
HISTORY OF THE BAND
Back in the summer of 2006 Martin Bland was performing in a band called Lieutenant Pigeon which was very popular band in the UK. As each of the members of the band at that time had a long history of working in other bands, some of which were internationally famous, it was thought about putting a band together that would perform all of the hits of the bands, and the musicians, that they had all performed with. This would include songs from The Animals, Smokie, John Miles, Joe Cocker, Thin Lizzy, and Dire Straights just to name a few!
In 2006, Martin Bland approached the very good friend and Polish promoter Marian Knapczyk to ask if he would be interested in promote and represent new band which was named by Martin Bland 'UK legends'. Straight away new project and the band UK Legends was booked in Poland for a very big show in Katowice, Spodek Arena on 1 December 2006 with the original line up: Martin Bland - ( ex Animals bass player 1995 - 1999 ), Gary Moberley - (Bee Gees keyboard player in 1989), Simon Van Downham and Geoff Hammond. Soon the bookings started rolling in and the UK LEGENDS band was well and truly on the road. The first shows that they performed were in front of 17,000 strong audiences in some of the biggest arenas in Poland, as well as performing at various other venues around the UK.
After when Gary Moberley left the band Martin Bland invited Steve Hutchinson, with whom he performed in The Animals, to join his band. Steve has been busy pursuing his solo career for the last four years which had a negative effect on the band's touring and eventually he decided to leave The UK legends, Animals III and The Voice of Smoki in 2021. The band quickly found his successor, Norman Seabrook former member of Tunderclap Newman, who brought new vitality to all of the band's projects.
In 2009, the band underwent the greatest transformation and recruited to the band talented vocalist Bernie Lowery from Songs of Smokie, new guitarist Graham Hunter and drummer Ady Evans.
Although the band had a few line-up changes since 2006, thanks to the musical experience and very good management by Martin Bland, who always very carefully selected professional musicians and song's repertoire, the band gained immense popularity throughout Europe.
